Community Volunteer Day

  • Brookdale Park Conservancy Essex County, NJ (map)

We have two projects in mind for this day, depending on how many volunteers we get. The first is planting several hundred bulbs (thank you May in Montclair!) at various spots throughout the park.

The second project is to continue clearing out brush and weeds from around the old pond side and then to extend our weed control efforts in that area, with an eye for planting in the Spring.

A great way to give back, make some new friends and learn more about Brookdale Park. All ages and skills are welcome and community service hours are available. We have tools, but if you'd like to bring your own please do! We also have work gloves, but again - if you can bring your own that is probably better. Lastly, for the newspaper sheet mulching project - we need newspaper! If you can bring a stack of newspaper with you (the regular paper, not the magazines or ads on glossy sheets) it would be greatly appreciated!

Participate in all or part of the event. Sign up for this event by emailing us at volunteer@brookdalepark.org. We look forward to seeing you! Note that our Project Plans are subject to change pending volunteer attendance and park needs.

Our focus is on projects that restore and enhance Brookdale Park's Olmsted Brothers' Master Plan while keeping the community’s needs and sustainability top of mind. We are an all-volunteer group supported by donations.
