BPC Program: Discovering the Birds of Brookdale Park

  • CANCELED! Bird Walk Saturday, Oct 3rd 7:30-9AM in Brookdale Park.
  • Bird Walk Wednesday, Oct 7th 7:30-9AM in Brookdale Park.

Join Rick Wright, author of American Birding Association Field Guide to New Jersey Birds, for one of two early morning bird walks and don't miss his author talk and book signing on Wednesday, Oct 7th from 7-8PM at Watchung Booksellers.

The bird walks will begin in the parking lot between the grandstand and the maintenance building, reached by turning into the park from Bellevue Avenue. We’ll walk approximately one mile on wide, level sidewalks and paths; our pace will be slow and relaxed, with plenty of time to appreciate and learn about the migrant and resident birds we find. Bring water, a snack, and a notebook and pencil; if you have them, binoculars can be useful, too.

There is no fee for these walks, but donations to the Brookdale Park Conservancy are welcomed and will be put towards improving the park's bird habitat.

Rick Wright is a professional tour leader with Victor Emanuel Nature Tours and a department editor at Birding, the flagship publication of the American Birding Association. Wright is a widely published author and sought-after speaker at birding festivals and conventions. He has lived and birded in Massachusetts, New Jersey, Illinois, Arizona, Austria, and Germany. Wright lives in Bloomfield, New Jersey.
