This year marks the 200th birthday of Frederick Law Olmsted and his pioneering landscapes of Central Park, NYC including our very own Brookdale Park where his sons carried on his legacy. See below for activities at our sister county park, Anderson Park, Montclair. Brookdale Park Conservancy will have a booth there, stop by and say hi!
May 14: 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MR. OLMSTED!' CELEBRATION: Let’s party in Anderson Park! Live music, kids’ activities, a puppet show, vintage bicycles and a half-hour theatrical living-history portrayal of Olmsted by the actor Joseph Smith are all part of a FREE celebration on May 14, from 1 to 4 p.m. Friends of Anderson Park is celebrating the 200th birthday of the pioneering landscape designer Frederick Law Olmsted. Community organizations with a connection to history, the environment and Essex County parks will also be on hand to let people know how they can become involved. Anderson Park is at 274 Bellevue Avenue, Montclair. The event is sponsored by Friends of Anderson Park and the Essex County Division of Cultural Affairs. (Raindate is May 15, same time.
